1977 National Geographic: The Year The Weather Went Wild

NationalGeographicCoverBy Elmer Beauregard

They were giving away free National Geographics at the local Library yesterday and I picked up the December 1977 issue because I liked the cover story. When I looked inside and found an article entitled ‘The Year The Weather Went Wild’ and I surprised to see that 1977 looked a lot like 2015. The story talked a lot about how cold the winter was and all the snow and sea ice on the east coast. They had a graphic of what looks like a Polar Vortex and even a drought in California. Their conclusion on what the cause of this weather event was different than today’s however they blamed the cold weather on Global Cooling which seems more logical to me.
