JurassiWorld

Despite this PhotoShopped image of Steven Spielberg posing in front of his big game conquest, I have a feeling Steven isn't a big Second Amendment guy.

In the first Jurassic park movie guns played a major role they made a point of talking about how big and how many guns they had at the park just in case something went wrong. They even had an Australian Crocodile Dundee type big game hunter character that turned out to have really slow reflexes. But at no point during the first and I think the next two Jurassic Park movies does anybody pick up a firearm, point it at a dinosaur and pull the trigger.

Now I'm not blaming Steven Spielberg for making this choice or Michael Crichton for that matter because had the big game hunter had faster reflexes and shot all 3 Velociraptors the movie and book would be about half as long.

Needless to say I was excited to see Owen (Chris Pratt) actually shoot a couple of Dinosaurs with an actual gun like it shows in the trailer. Too be fair he does shoot a couple of little flying dinosaurs but for the most part gun usage in the movie was quite lame. At one point a helicopter with a giant machine gun shoots at one of the big dinosaurs but totally misses it. Later on Owen shoots at the same big dinosaur with a sawed off double barrel shotgun to no avail. Had he used a 50 caliber something or other that dinosaur would be hanging over his mantel piece.
