Well the 2007 Minnesota Legislative Session has ended and we were able to stop the "Global Warming Mitigation Act" from passing. We can all breathe a sigh of relief that are sighing breaths won't be taxed and considered pollution. So thanks to all of you for your efforts in getting this stopped.
Now The Bad News...

There was another Global Warming Bill that was passed that I was not aware of.
"The Next Generation Energy Act of 2007". The main purpose of this bill is to make elctricity more expensive.
Now I don't know about you but it was a tough winter at the World Headquarters, and my electricy bill was pretty high. I tried to supplement with the wood stove, but it would go out at night and during the day while I was at work the electric backup system would kick in and it got "Really Expensive".
Gas prices are at an all time high, and adding insult to injury they're trying to add to the gas tax, propane (which I also use) is getting more expensive. And now with this bill passing electricity will be more expensive. It's getting harder and harder to survive these Minnesota winters. I might have to move to a place where winters aren't quite so harsh like Kansas or something. Of course I'm hoping Global Warming will kick in and then I won't have to move.
The one bright spot is, for now, this bill does not pertain to heating with wood, it only taxes the burning of coal, petroleum, and natural gas. So until then I'll just have to fire up the old Chain Saw and put up a couple more chords of wood for next winter.
